I have known Ken Smith since 1983. One of the first impressions I had of Ken when he volunteered to organize and host one of our seminars on Biblical finances in the Washington, D.C., area was that of a highly organized person. I have learned over the years of teaching conferences that often the success of a conference is directly related to the organizer's personal habits. Too often people volunteer out of a sincere but misguided emotional attraction to a particular topic that benefited them in their spiritual walk. But the rigor of organizing other workers, making myriads of telephone calls, and countless hours of committee work usually burns them out. As a result most never attempt the task twice. In Ken's case what impressed me was that he immediately volunteered to organize a second, even larger conference. His organization plan was adopted by other volunteers around the country and greatly aided the ministry of Christian Financial Concepts (now, Crown Financial Ministries) in the early growth period.

It is with this introduction that I heartily endorse Ken as an expert in the area of organization and time management. Perhaps nothing in our "drive-through" society is more lacking than effective organization. I am reminded of what I heard one of my college professors says once: "We all have the same number of hours per day, whether we are the President of the United States or an inmate in a penitentiary. It is not the amount of time that is the issue. It is the way you use it."

I have tried to remember that when I feel frazzled and hurried by my schedule. Ken's book It's About Time is an excellent tool for those who would like to better organize their lives, and an essential tool for those who know they need to. Ken has done an excellent job of integrating God's Word into a meaningful application of everyday techniques that can be used again and again. The one caution that I would give any reader is the tendency to procrastinate, even when reading a book or organizing. The Apostle James told us that we should be effectual doers of the Word, not merely hearers. I trust that you will apply the principles taught by Ken Smith in this excellent book.
