Ministry News

Many thanks to those of you who participated in the CSM Bowling Tournament Marathon on October 21. Together with corporate sponsors, you raised more than $15,000 net for the ministry.

Looking ahead, circle Thursday, March 8, 2001, on your calendars for the CSM Spring Banquet. We are delighted to welcome Congressman Frank Wolf to speak to us about Christians in politics. The reception begins at 5:30 with dinner at 6:30 at the Tysons Corner McLean Hilton. Tickets are $40; there will also be a financial appeal for the ministry. Thanks to banquet chairman Bob Fredericks and committee members Rick Groux, Myrna Harris, Karen Hembree, Chuck Henry, Frank Lewark, Frank McLearen, Sharon Meisel, Debbie Moran, Teri Phelps and Bud Roeder for their work in putting this evening together.

Our 30-minute live call-in radio counseling program is going strong on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. on WCTN, AM 950, and its website, www.WCTN.net. Please share with us your questions by calling the radio station at 301-983-0950 or by Internet at the WCTN site or the CSM website at http://www.csmin.org.

We're excited about new directions for our Life Management Study. The revised Internet version is up and running thanks to project manager Andy Wen, CSM coordinator Paula Wilson and technical specialists Steve Change, I-chung Liu and Tirian Wilson and instructors Paula Wilson, and Alex Whitley. Our student version of LMS-a six-week program-should be ready to test with youth pastors in the Fairfax, Virginia, area in January. We've set an introductory price of $10 per student. We appreciate the hard work of youth pastors Dan Britton, Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Greg Laible, Evangelical Free Church; Tim Pinckard, Immanuel Bible Church; Clay Thompson, Truro Episcopal Church; and Karen Hembree.

Also, part of CSM's long-term development plan includes seeking grants from charitable foundations. Ernie Wakeham of Fairfax, Virginia, and Lisa Lannan of Kingsman, Arizona, are serving CSM as grant writers. They're working on the first three applications with more to come.
