Bowlers Boost Revenue for CSM

CSM's Bowling Tournament Marathon held Saturday, October 16, 1999 at Fairfax Circle Bowl America in Fairfax City was a huge success. The tournament raised more than $15,000–half again the amount raised in last year's event. Top fundraisers included Pat Smith, John Reyle and Bob Fredericks. Steve Gaskins, Brett Ames and John Gaskins earned the highest average, and John Gaskins and Evenson and Evenson earned the prizes for most frames bowled.

Hazel Land Company was the corporate underwriter for the tournament, and WABS and WCTN were radio sponsors. Bowl America Fairfax Circle served as co-host.

Corporate sponsors for the bowling marathon included: Areas Appraisers, Inc., AXA Advisors, Bruce W. Reyle & Co., Chris Dean Re/Max, Dominion Property, Dominion Real Estate, Fallon & Groux, Fredericks & Stephens, Global Strategies, Globe Travel, Golden Construction, Klooster Decorators, Inc., Merit Title Co., Penn Auto Sales Co., Peterson Companies, Primerica Financial Services, R.G. Topping & Co., Scott-Long Construction, Templeton Olds-Dodge, Vicki Nellis Re/Max Elite and William A. Hazel.

Ministry News

The hot number in the news is 2000–the next century just around the corner. But the number to remember when you think of CSM is 1149. That's the special number assigned to Christian Stewardship Ministries by the Combined Federal Campaign. Civil servants and members of the military can designate 1149 to receive their charitable contribution and give to CSM at the office for the first time ever.

Many thanks to the bowlers who joined CSM October 16 for our marathon bowling tournament. We had a great time for six hours and raised $12,000 for the ministry. We especially appreciate the hard work of the bowling committee–Bob Fredericks, Gordon Klooster, Teri Phelps, John Reyle, Clint Smith, Pat Smith and Ron Zabel.

CSM is continuing to expand its outreach through the Internet Life Management Study. We now have 18 students enrolled from 10 different states. Until March 1, the cost is discounted from $150 to $75. Sign up now and save. You can register directly on the CSM website, http://www.csmin.org. If you live in the Washington area, you can sign up for our regular classes, which begin the week of January 10 and cost $95.

Also, remember to visit CSM's website for tips on time and money management found in previous articles from Glad Tithings that are being added to our archives. Give us your comments and let us add your email address to our database.

Do you know someone who really needs some help with time or money management as the new year approaches? Perhaps personal counseling could help them over a rough spot or help them make the commitment to take the LMS class. Suggest that your friend call CSM at 703-591-5000 to take the first step toward dealing with debt or overcommitment in 2000.
