J.C. Lasmanis: Planning and Trusting
Planning is both J.C. Lasmanis’ business and his gift to CSM. As a member of the development committee and architect of the ministry’s strategic plan, he’s focusing on the future. His past experience of God’s faithfulness in meeting his own needs gives him the confidence to plan ahead and trust God for the results. Development is more than just fundraising–it is improving, adapting, creating and getting the ministry into the community. “We want to reach as many people as possible,” Lasmanis explains, “go beyond the immediate community and even beyond the boundaries of this nation, but to proliferate to a much wider audience requires resources.” In May, Lasmanis worked with the Board of Directors at their annual retreat, guiding them through the strategic planning process. The end result was a revitalized and energized Board that re-affirmed the mission and vision of CSM, refocused its effort and is committed to growing the ministry. What lies ahead in terms of funding the ministry? Getting the approval for listing as a national organization under the Combined Federal Campaign so that federal employees can give through the office was a big step. Foundation grants are next. Lasmanis’ involvement with CSM dates back to one of the early financial management seminars. He later served on the board. Today his key responsibility is fundraising. As founding director of Trinity Christian School in Fairfax, with teaching and administrative experience in higher education and over fifteen years of serving as a marketing executive in a number of high tech information products and services organizations, he now helps small educational organizations, high tech companies and ministries with marketing and strategic planning as a partner in LIADAN Associates. The company hopes to expand into providing other basic support services such as bookkeeping and sales management for small businesses that do not need full-time personnel for these functions. Lasmanis describes his faith in Jesus Christ as “the most
important thing in my life, the single most real thing in life.”
A committed believer since 1976, he and his wife Charlane are members of
Church of the Apostles in Fairfax, Virginia. They are the parents
of five children and live in Vienna, Virginia.
Joyful Dividends
Dear Ken, I came to you for a referral interview before last Christmas. You gave me some fine advice and counsel about my use of time and money, and my need to continue using my resumes to find better employment while I continue to write. Your words have stuck with me, and I am keeping them before me as my life moves on. Thank you for your wise input. You have been a great help. Currently I continue to work for an educational consulting group in Reston, and I tutor for them and two other tutorial agencies. I look forward to what God has for me in the time ahead. The Lord keep you in your work for Him.
From readers of It’s About Time Dear Ken Smith, I think the book was spectacular. Thank you for sharing your info. Sincerely, Elizabeth Behrendt
Dear Ken Smith, The method for prayer–ACTS–has been helpful to me and my Bible study group and also what should I do during my quiet time. I thank God for you and your ministry. May God continue to bless you as you write more books. Sincerely, Catherine Somani
