In this issue, we are highlighting three books from CSM’s bookshelf to help you learn how to manage your money in line with biblical principles.

Overextended? Try Ron Blue’s The Debt Squeeze to find a way out of the money pit and avoid future financial pitfalls. It’s a great guide to money management written by a CPA with a scriptural perspective. Also by Blue is Master Your Money, designed as a step-by-step guide to financial freedom. This book includes easy-to-follow charts and worksheets to help you see where your money goes and to get better control of it.

The third book in the trio is Howard Dayton’s Your Money Counts. Subtitled "The Biblical guide to earning, spending, saving, investing, giving and getting out of debt," Dayton’s book focuses on using the Bible as a blueprint for managing finances. Dayton identifies more than 2,350 verses that address money and offers practical suggestions for applying them to everyday life.

Ministry News

Following a hot but fruitful summer, we are ready for fall at CSM. We had a great picnic at the Brittons' home in June, despite some nasty weather, and our Bowl-a-thon raised $5,000. These special events brought the CSM family together for fun and fellowship, and we're looking forward to repeating them next year.

The LMS is going high tech! We hope to offer our 13-week class over the Internet soon for those who cannot make it to sessions in the Washington area. Many thanks to Andy Wen, a web developer with an Internet-based distance education company. Andy, a member of the Chinese Christian Church of Greater Washington, D.C., is using his experience and expertise to set up the LMS course in a web-friendly format. We'll be refining it as time goes along, so we would love to have suggestions from LMS graduates. Paula Wilson and Krysti Doyle have agreed to serve as online instructors and Tirian Wilson as a technical assistant.

If you'd like to join the hundreds of other Washington-area Christians who have studied the LMS in a small group, call the CSM office right away at 703-591-5000. Classes begin the second week of September.

Bowlers Help CSM

Nearly 30 bowlers rolled strikes, spares and even a few gutter balls to raise more than $5,000 for CSM on July 11. CSM hopes to hold another bowl-a-thon in October.

1998 Cookout A Success

More than 100 CSM friends survived tornados, hail and rain-and had a great time-at the ministry's June cookout. In between storms, the group played games, sang, worshiped and enjoyed a time of fellowship. Plan to join us again next June, once again at Ed and Dottie Britton's home.
