Buggs Bugnon: Reaching Out on the Internet
Buggs Bugnon received Christ more than 30 years ago, and he is convinced that the key to living a faithful life is continual renewal of the mind to replace old thoughts with those centered on Christ. He also believes in using new technology to reach others for the Lord, and for 10 years ran a Christian bulletin board system that folks could dial into using their computers and modems. Today, he’s on the Internet with SMCIS ministries, and he designed and maintains CSM’s web page at www.csmin.org as well. The page debuted in March,1997, and features information on the ministry, articles on time management and links to other Christian ministries. Past issues of Glad Tithings and lists of advertisers will soon be added. Buggs sees many opportunities for CSM to minister over the Internet, perhaps offering email counseling in the future and expanding links to other similar ministries. A Navy veteran, Buggs met Ken Smith 12 years ago through the Christian Business Men’s Committee. Ken’s time management counseling helped Buggs learn to better plan his time and consider options for life after the Navy. Buggs says the Lord is teaching him patience these days and the need for discipleship among Christians. Patience paid off recently as Buggs’ daughter led his 82-year-old mother to the Lord. Buggs and his wife Ann have five children and twelve grandchildren and live in California, Maryland. They attend SAYSF (Seek and Ye Shall Find) Bible Church in Lexington Park, Maryland. Joyful DividendsDear Ken, ...Thanks so much for all of your help. The book, workbook, worksheets, and tapes really helped out a lot. Kurt and I really appreciated the chance to meet with you. Your guidance during that meeting, and then later when I called for your help, was so calming. I am not nearly as anxious about our finances any more. I really feel like we are closer to getting on the right track. Thank you again for all of your help, Susan Kerin
Dear Ken, Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your "Dealing with Pride" article [September 1997 Glad Tithings]. I always enjoy the Principles in Practice section of Glad Tithings. They are very thought-provoking for me. I don’t know if I ever have told you how much you meant to me when I first came to Truro Singles, Ken. You "bugged" me to find a quiet time with the Lord every day. It took me months to take your advice, but my quiet time with God is the most important part of my day now. You helped me find my Lord in my quiet time. At least once a month for all these years I have thanked God for Ken Smith. It’s time I thanked you.... Gretchen Wrigle North Carolina
Dear Ken, Please place me on your mailing list. I would like to receive your newsletter Glad Tithings. I really loved your book It’s About Time. Awesome. Life changing. Brian T. Vermilya Georgia
Dear Ken, We just really want to thank you! A few months ago, we didn’t know how we were spending our money! ...It became apparent to me that, although we had not run up any major debts, we were not being good Christian stewards of our finances. So I began to pray. I asked the Lord to guide us in our financial decisionmaking, and the Lord led us straight to your ministry. Ken, your ministry has been such a blessing in our lives. We worked at home on the materials you sent us and developed a budget. Then we sat down with you in your office and modified that budget, organized our spending, and asked ourselves, "What does God want?" You sent us home to live with that budget and invited us back to see how we were doing and provided even more counseling! Thank you. Now, I know exactly what we’re spending our money on–even the smallest items. We very much appreciate the generous gifts of your time, experience and attention to detail. I truly believe God is working through your ministry to help other Christians in their walk with Him. As Christians, we should always have faith that God will never allow our needs to go unmet. But, as we live day to day in this secular world, it’s so easy to confuse our needs with our wants and desires. By defining our needs–with the help of people like you–it’s easier to see just how well God is taking care of us. Sincerely, John and Trina Lewis
Dear Ken, I knew I needed help, and your book had been on my shelf for several years. Now that I’ve read it and tried (a process) to implement all you outline, I find out how much it’s changed my life. My files are now in order and I saw very quickly the reason for a detailed index. Many thanks. ...I most appreciate your making me feel accountable for my Bible study and quiet time. That alone has been worth more than I can say. Sincerely, Tracy Matheny California
